The project to connect electrical power from hydropower plant to the electrical transmission networks in Laos. The implementation of the project began and was completed in 2013

The project involved installing a SCADA automation system to control, monitor, manage, and record data on the connection status, production status, power transmission status, and distribution status of 22 kV medium-voltage electric power from the Nam Xong Hydroelectric Power Station to the Laos electricity grid. – We were responsible for the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of systems, as well as report approval, installation (including CT, VT, PMU, automation I/O instrumentation, TCP/IP fiber optic networks, and electrical cable wiring), software development, customer service, and system commissioning.


The project to control, monitor, and manage the water in the reservoir and river for hydropower generation. The implementation of the project began and was completed in 2008

EDL-GEN Public Company, Nam Xong Hydropower, Vientiane Province, Laos. The project involved installing a SCADA automation system to monitor, control, and manage the water levels in the reservoir and rivers.– Responsible for the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of systems, as well as report approval, installation (including ultrasonic sensors for water level measurement using 4–20mA signals, automation I/O equipment, fiber optic TCP/IP networks, and electrical wiring), software development, customer service, and system commissioning.

The project to analyze and improve the protection and transient stability of Laos's electrical networks and hydropower systems in the northern and central regions. The implementation of the project began and was completed in 2016-2019

Électricité du Laos (EDL) and EDL-Gen. The local partner of EXP Canada in Montreal collaborated on a project to resolve issues, enhance transient stability, improve protection systems, and develop SCADA for electricity networks and hydropower plants in the northern and central regions of Laos. As part of the project, we were responsible for collecting technical data from 13 hydroelectric power plants, 37 substations, and transmission lines from the planning department. The data were provided to experts for study and analysis to resolve issues, enhance efficiency, and develop electrical networks and hydropower plants in Laos. Additionally, E Advance Technologies responsible for analyzing the SCADA systems of hydropower plants and substations, monitoring and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of the project, and creating a summary report for Électricité du Laos (EDL) after the study and analysis conducted by experts from EXP Canada.

Examined the following status: the electrical production of the generators, the generators’ bus bars, power transformers, the switchyard bus bar, the generators’ temperatures, the generators’ vibrations, the positions of the generators during operation, the AVR, and the governor systems. Additionally, the functions of the PSS, CCT, and AGC were analyzed, along with the operation procedures, the accuracy of each parameter, the protection systems, the alarms, the networking, the data recording, the block diagrams, the circuit drawings, the service manuals, and the automation equipment. Furthermore, recommendations were provided for using the hardware-in-the-loop system to obtain the correct parameter settings for AVR control and the governor.

The Human resources development project in technology, science, and Innovation in collaborate with National University of Laos Faculty of Engineering to create the Automation SCADA Center.

The Laboratory of Automation and IA at Engineering Faculty of Laos National University, Vientiane Capital, Laos. 2023 – We are the co-founders of the Technology Operations Center and are also responsible for the design, development, assembly, and installation of the automation SCADA system, Local Control Unit, AI, and networking system.

Brief introduction to SCADA system

The advantages of automation SCADA are the ability to collect and analyze real-time data for monitoring, control, and management, making production, control, management, and distribution more efficient.

The structures and features of the automation SCADA system are as follows:

The profile and objectives of the Humans Resources Development Program in Automation and Artificial Intelligence Technologies

The Automation SCADA and AI (Artificial Intelligence) Operation Center was established in 2023 as a collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering at Lao National University and E-Advance Technologies. It is the first automation and AI operation center in Lao PDR. The purpose of this program is to develop human resources in the field of modern technology. It aims to provide students with opportunities to access learning resources, understand how to use technological systems correctly, develop problem-solving skills, and improve their ability to innovate in automation and artificial intelligence technologies independently in the future.

The objectives of the services are to provide monitoring, control, and management in various fields, including energy systems, industry, smart agriculture, water resource management, clean water supply, wastewater treatment, e-government, fintech, commerce, disaster emergency alerts, irrigation, administration, transportation, telecommunications, medical services, and other innovations. Therefore, the study of automation, SCADA technologies, and artificial intelligence in both theory and practice is essential.

The project involved inspecting the SCADA system for two new clear-water supply factories in Laos. The implementation of the project began and was completed in 2023.

• Asian Development Bank, the inspection project of the Electrical System and Automation SCADA for 2 new clear water supply factories in LAOS. - The company took responsibility as the principal inspector for SCADA features, automation systems, block diagrams, drawings, networking systems, pumping systems, electrical systems, auxiliary power systems, and telecommunication systems

The Project for the Overhaul of Two 20MVA Power Transformers at Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower Plant in Laos. The implementation of the project began and was completed in 2015.

The project to install the backup protection system for the 40MW generator at Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower in Laos began and was completed in 2016

• EDL-Generation Public, The company led the project to install the thermistor relay protection for the 40 MW power generator at the Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower Plant in central Laos and was responsible for equipment supply, supervision, installation, commissioning, and customer service.

The project to upgrade and replace the control panel, switching from an analog system to a digital system, for the auxiliary power electrical engine (380V/400KVA) at Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower in Laos began and was completed in 2012."

• EDL- Generation Public Company, Nam Ngum1 hydropower plant, Vientiane Province, Laos. The project involved upgrading the control panel from an analog to a digital system and replacing the automatic transfer switch for the auxiliary electrical power diesel engine (380 VAC/400 kW). –We were responsible for the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of the system, as well as report approval, installation (including the controller, firmware download, AVR, electrical system, parameter setting, power meter unit, and wiring of electrical cables), customer service, and system commissioning.

The project to upgrade the firmware of the control panel for the auxiliary power diesel engine (380V/400KVA) at Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower in Laos began and was completed in 2019.

EDL GEN Public Company, Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower Plant, Vientiane Province, Laos. – We were responsible for supervising, replacing the main controller, upgrading the firmware, and commissioning the 380 VAC/400 KVA auxiliary power diesel engine.

The project to replace the automatic transfer control and install the power meter for the auxiliary power diesel engine (380V/400KVA) in Laos began and was completed in 2021.

The project to replace an Automatic Transfer Unit (380V/600A) and install a power meter for monitoring and control at Vientiane Cooler Company, Vientiane Capital, Laos. We were responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning.

The project to troubleshoot and repair the control system of the auxiliary electrical power diesel engine (380VAC/200A) at Nam Xong Hydropower in Laos began and was completed in 2008.

The project to install the rainfall recorder, meteorology, and water level system at the Nam Khan River aimed to control, monitor, and manage the water in the reservoir and river for hydropower generation in Laos. The project began and was completed in 2017.

EDL-Generation Public, our company, led the project to install the rainfall recorder, hydrology, meteorology, and wireless systems for the Nam Khan 2 and 3 hydropower plants in northern Laos. – We were responsible for design, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, report approval, and installation (including meteorology, rainfall recorder, hydrology, TCP/IP networks, wireless networks, and electrical cable wiring), as well as parameter setting, customer service, and system commissioning.

The project to install a 178 km fiber optic network across three provinces in Laos began and was completed in 2014.

Designed the SCADA Automation Center for monitoring, managing, and controlling water resources for the Irrigation Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 2017.

The company’s academic staff have been honored as visiting professors and assistant professors, teaching water management and control at the National University of Laos.
